MISSION & HISTORY.
Our mission is to serve children who have limited access to preschool or daycare programs by providing language/literacy circles while exposing them to necessary experiences that will prepare them for social and academic success.
Founded by Chanel W. James MA, CCC-SLP and Dayna K. Gury MS, CCC-SLP, The Speech Bus was created out of an idea to meet children where they are, academically and geographically, addressing necessary speech and language skills. Due to inequities, children from marginalized groups have different childhood experiences than those from privileged groups. There are various contributing factors why many young children are not going to preschools/daycares (unable to afford child care, loss of child care vouchers, and lack of transportation).
